When a series of mysterious child disappearances rocks the city of Wałbrzych, journalist Alicja Tabor arrives on the scene.

Returning to her hometown after years away, the tenacious reporter seeks to meet the families of the missing and unravel a mystery that has left the police powerless. In the course of her private investigation, Alicja—quite unexpectedly—stumbles upon the trail of dramatic events that began decades earlier. Driven to uncover the truth, she must confront a new threat as well as the very thing she has been fleeing throughout her adult life: the mystery of her own childhood and shocking family secrets.

Over time, a dark criminal intrigue intertwines the missing children, a wartime past, the legend of a lost treasure, and Alicja’s own fate; along the way, she will face the embodiment of pure evil while also gaining allies standing on the side of good.
